"Contact Improvisation is an open-ended exploration of the kinaesthetic possibilities of bodies moving through contact. Sometimes wild and athletic, sometimes quiet and meditative, it is a form open to all bodies and enquiring minds."—from Ray Chung workshop announcement, London, 2009

1-2 pm Contact Improvisation Skills Class w/ Kristen Stake
This class will dip into the basics of Contact Improvisation including: following the point of contact, honing one's relationship to gravity, and moving in partnership with others. Exercises will include: bodywork, floor work, alignment, sharing weight, and composition. The goal of the class will be to prepare ourselves for a fruitful jam experience.

2-3 pm

Contact Improvisation jams provide an open space for movement exploration and research in the dance form. Dancers and movers are self-directed and responsible for their own safety. Dancers may use the time to practice skills, to drop-in and relax, or to explore solo, duo, and group dancing. Anyone can enter or exit a dance at any time and therefore, it is important to know your boundaries and ask for help if you feel unsure.
